Burning down the kerstboom
Heute gab es auf dem Museumsplein hinter dem Rijksmuseum ein verfrühtes Osterfeuer. Die Amsterdammer haben ihre Weihnachtsbäume verbrannt. ich bin mir sicher, dass einige der Schaulustigen nachher mit gelöcherten Jacken nach Hause gelaufen sind...

Heute gab's wieder eine neue Feierei, mit Drachenkostümen, einer Menge Lärm, Trommeln, Chinakrachern und neuen roten Papierschnipseln auf dem Boden.
Today, the chinese community has been celebrating again. with dragon-costumes, a lot of noise and drums, more firecrackers and new red confetti left on the ground.

Wibautstraat is het nieuwe centrum
oder so ähnlich... im Volkskrant-Gebouw an der Wibautstraat 150 in Amsterdam Oost gibts im 7. Stock ein nettes Ding, nennt sich 'Canvas', will Gastronomie (Essen und Trinken) mit Kunst(-ausstellungen) verbinden. Wir waren am Dienstag da und es hat mir gut gefallen... In der Ecke steht ein Fotofix-Automat, die Dachterasse ist vermutlich die beste der Stadt und es gibt sogar noch einen zweiten Raucherraum, mit wild durchgemischten Sitzgelegenheiten und alten Fernsehern dekoriert.
In the Wibautstraat in eastern Amsterdam there are happening some interesting things.
End of the summer, a restaurant/bar/exposition-place opened in the 7th floor of the old Volkskrant-Building in the Wibautstraat 150. It's called Canvas', we went there last tuesday and it is quite nice, has the probably Amsterdam's coolest terrace and an additional smoker's room with random chairs and old tvs. And in one corner there's even a fotofix-machine.

Und gegenüber, im alten Parool/Trouw-Gebouw kommt in Kürze ein neuer, noch namenloser Club. Von den Machern des alten Club 11. Die Räume, in denen vormals die Druckerpressen fü:r die Zeitung standen, sind super schallisoliert... Was in der Zeitung zum Konzept geschrieben stand, klingt meiner Meinung nach vielversprechend. Elektronische Musik, aber ein bisschen rauer, mit einer schärferen Kante als im 11. Mehr Live-Auftritte und im Keller neben Garderobe und Toiletten auch Platz für moderne Kunst, Subkultur oder etabliert, auf jeden Fall beweglich und eben nicht so statisch wie ein Museum. Man darf gespannt sein!

The club/restaurant will be situated in the rooms where the printing of the newspaper used to take place, that's why the isolation is almost perfect. The style of music also sounds nice, electronic music with a raw twist and more live performances. In the basement there's going to be some exposition room for modern art. I'm curious when it's going to start...

Es ist kalt.
Auf den Grachten gefriert das Wasser... Aber noch kann man kein Schlittschuhlaufen.
Doch merkt man, wie die Menschen sehnsüchtig warten.
Allerdings gibt es einige Fotomomente, in denen ich mir noch mehr eine spiegelreflektierende Kamera wünsche...
It's cold outside, the water on the canals is freezing. Still, no time for ice skating, but you can feel the people waiting for it.
And there were a lot of nice things to take pictures of. Reminded me of the camera on my wishlist...
